Vertical Platform Lifts

The Vertical platform lift market is made up of several different types of platform lift and was initially created to fulfil the market for low pit and headroom requirements. This was massively fuelled by the Part M & DDA legislation of 1994 which has created a specific market designed to solve all types of access issues with a platform lift solution, where a traditional Passenger lift is not a practical solution.

The vertical platform lift market has grown from the it’s embryonic conception of upto 1500mm lifts to the current wide product range including low rise lifts with a half height gate at the upper level to fully enclosed lifts travelling upto approx 14 metres.

This market has several types of lift from the traditional “L Shaped” platform A5000 which is always supplied within our purpose built modular structure, to fully enclosed lifts Domus for more specific applications, and the heavy duty Axesslift , both of which can be supplied wall-mounted or structure-supported, with a superb range of stunning lift car finishes.

These lifts can be installed in either internal or external applications TSK Apollo External to give full market coverage.

We have flexibility within these ranges of 3 person up to 13 person lifts from 2 floor applications up to 6 floors coving a maximum travel of 14m. However, care must be taken in specifying these multi floor high travel lifts, as the DDA regulations state that the maximum speed of these lifts is not to exceed 0.15m/s and therefore vertical platform lifts are not to be used as a cheap option to passenger lifts.

However, using our expertise within the entire lift market, we can satisfy most specification requirements and have many years’ experience of customer specific applications and have often been asked to utilise our in house project management skills to ensure we deliver the right capacity, speed, configuration and finishes to suit commercial, retail, private and bespoke applications.

Alternatively an Inclined Platform Lift may be the preferred solution if space is a limitation. The Inclined lift can be either wall mounted or post mounted onto the steps with no requirement for builders work and therefore quite often can be a practical cost effective solution.

For the type of application where space is a premium we have the Vertical Platform Lift or more commonly known as simply a Platform Lift. These lifts can service up to 6 different landings and is available in its own aesthetically pleasing shaft or can be installed into a conventional brick or concrete shaft with or without fire resistant doors. This type of lift has a minimal pit requirement of less the 100mm or can be ramped should a pit not be available. Speed is the real limitation as these lifts are only allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 0,15 m/s with constant pressure being required to operate the lift.

Alternatively, the Inclined Platform lift designed for curved or multi leveled staircases, could be a cost effective viable solution. We always use the Hiro Lift 320 for this type of application with its high quality stainless steel rails and patented friction drive system synonymous with smooth comfortable safe travel. Again a major benefit is that of no builders work requirements being necessary.
